Hashkafa with a Heretic, Episode 4

This week I'm joined by  as we discuss the chapters three and four of the Chovos HaLevavos, and explore some of the syncretistic nature of Judaism.

  1. Syncretistic nature of Judaism. Exactly, and it is something I have been stressing over and over again. But it is not limited to just the Torah and Tenach. From Philo to Rambam who claimed Greek philosophy in Judaism to people like Gerald Schroeder today who find relativity, big bang cosmology in the Torah, good greif. This flexibility helped Judaism survive the galus. Heck, if people ever colonize someplace in outer space there will probably be Jews there telling us how it is all written in the Torah blah blah blah. ACJA
